Magical-Mythical Networks

The project investigates the religious practices around Benjamin’s plateau, current Israel/Palestine, in the Iron Age I-IIA (c. 1125-875), place and time of the probable origin of “Ancient Israel” from the social-communicative concept coined as "Magical-Mythical Networks." To doing so, it analyzes historical sources from the material, visual and textual records from nine excavated sites within the region at the time and biblical texts to compose a portrait of religious practices and subsumed beliefs.
