ENG: The book "Challenging Dichotomies and Biases in the Study of the Ancient Southern Levant," which I co-edited with Bruno Biermann, Fabio Porzia, and Christoph Uehlinger, was recently published by Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht.
As its title shows, the book addresses dichotomies and paradigms that have shaped or influenced the study of the region that comprises the modern states of Israel, Jordan, and Palestine from the second to the first millennium BCE. The work has contributions from specialists from different fields that, assuming different theoretical and methodological approaches, contribute from their perspective and datasets to the critical questioning of paradigms and approaches, especially those that shape historical reconstructions by simplifying complex, multifaceted, and fluid realities into clear-cut dichotomies.
